BC Liberal MLAs join Surrey community for anti-gang roundtable

SURREY (December 11, 2018) – BC Liberal MLAs joined elected officials, experts, and community leaders this weekend to participate in an anti-gang roundtable in Surrey.

“Gang activity is a serious issue in Surrey, and a growing concern throughout the Lower Mainland,” says Surrey-White Rock MLA Tracy Redies. “This weekend’s event reaffirmed the need for an innovative and multi-faceted approach to combatting this issue. While the problem remains significant, I’m encouraged to see so many members of the community committed to tackling gun and gang violence in Surrey and throughout the region.”

BC Liberal MLAs also extended their thanks to event organizers.

“With an issue as complex as gang violence, it’s especially important to listen to what community members are saying,” says Surrey-Cloverdale MLA Marvin Hunt. “Thank you to Wake Up Surrey for providing this opportunity to learn from experts and hear from members of the community.”
