VICTORIA (April 24, 2018) – Leader of the Official Opposition Andrew Wilkinson released the following statement on British Columbia’s new Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin:

“It’s a pleasure to help welcome British Columbia’s next Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin.

“We have been fortunate to have been represented by distinguished, accomplished British Columbians such as Iona Campagnolo, Steven Point and Judith Guichon. In Janet Austin, we could not have asked for a better or more deserving choice.

“Austin is well known in Vancouver and throughout the province as a tireless advocate for increased housing, early childhood development, gender equality and diversity. Under her guidance, the YWCA became one of the province’s largest and most diverse non-profit organizations. Serving tens of thousands of people every year, it played a vital role in the city’s social fabric.

“On behalf of my colleagues in British Columbia’s Official Opposition, welcome and congratulations. I look forward to working with Her Honour for years to come.”
