Statement from Andrew Wilkinson on International Women’s Day

VICTORIA (March 8, 2020) – Leader of the Official Opposition, Andrew Wilkinson, released the following statement today for International Women’s Day:

“Today on International Women’s Day we celebrate women all around the world who work each and every day to achieve an equal and inclusive society.

“I’m proud to join in that work as we come together and continue to strive for equality so that the dreams of our daughters are no less than the dreams of our sons.

“And it takes men and women working together to achieve that change. To achieve that vision for the future where generations to come have endless possibilities regardless of their gender.

“This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is Each for Equal. It represents an opportunity for us to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, and broaden perceptions.

“We can only expect change when we all work hand in hand to ensure our schools, our workplaces, and our communities respect gender equality.

“I’m proud to work together with my female colleagues, who continue each day to be strong and passionate advocates for their communities and their beliefs.

“Equal pay, red-tape reduction for things like name changes for couples, and initiatives encouraging more women to run for office are just some of the exciting things the BC Liberal Caucus is working on right now.

“Our caucus commits to continue working for a world where everyone has dreams, opportunities, and respect. We hope all British Columbians will join with us.”
