Statement from Andrew Wilkinson on National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

On December 6 1989, 13 students and a school administrator were murdered at École Polytechnique in Montréal. They were targeted. Killed because they were women learning to be engineers.

Nearly thirty years later, we clearly still have a lot of work to do. Above all else, we must ensure that every school and every workplace are unquestionably safe and respectful.

There should be no corner of our society where women feel unsafe. This is something we can do together, because the dreams of our daughters must be no less than the dreams of our sons.
