VANCOUVER (September 5, 2018) – BC Liberal Transportation Critic Jordan Sturdy has released the following statement, in response to Tuesday’s transportation announcements by the Prime Minister and Premier.
“After years of negotiations with the federal government, it is good to see the Broadway Line and the Surrey LRT projects moving forward to ease traffic congestion for commuters.
“These expanded services are much needed, and were a key part of our former government’s ongoing transportation plan.
“Our concern now shifts to how the NDP will pay for these projects. This is a government that continues to spend and at the same time, rejects economic growth.
“We will continue to press the NDP to come up with an economic strategy to create the revenues needed to support British Columbians for years to come.
“We’re also hopeful the NDP will not tie a Union Benefits Agreement to the Broadway project. In the past, these types of agreements have seen British Columbians pay more and get much less for their hard-earned money.”
