VICTORIA (November 22, 2018) – Official Opposition Critic for Housing, Todd Stone, released the following statement today for National Housing Day:
“Today on National Housing Day we recognize the challenges that we face with housing here in B.C. and across the country. Too many people in our province are left homeless due to a lack of access to adequate affordable housing.
“Affordable housing is a vital part of both caring for, and investing in each other — everyone deserves a safe, secure, and affordable home.
“It is obvious that we need to work together like never before to get more roofs over heads, quickly and efficiently. This will involve government, non-profits, and the private sector working with one another to rise to the occasion and meet these challenges, in a broad-based and sustainable manner.
“We need to ensure that supportive housing projects actually include the supports residents need. We need to ensure accountability for projects that fall behind schedule, and we need to provide more opportunities for happy, healthy, and safe childhoods.
“Housing is a challenge that impacts all of us in one way or another. As such, we need to encourage partnership across sectors as we work for the good of British Columbians.
