Wilkinson Challenges Horgan To Electoral Reform Debate

VANCOUVER (September 24, 2018) – BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson is challenging Premier John Horgan to a public debate on proportional representation ahead of the province’s referendum on electoral reform.

“On something as fundamental as changing our democracy there should be far more public discussion, so I’m challenging Premier Horgan to a public debate,” said Wilkinson. “It’s time to shine a light on the facts and inform the people of British Columbia. Nobody should be left out in the dark when they vote next month.”

Wilkinson was inspired to call for this debate when he noticed while travelling across the province this summer that most British Columbians aren’t aware of the upcoming referendum.

“As leaders of the two largest parties in the province, I believe it is our responsibility to come together to ensure that British Columbians understand the arguments for and against altering our electoral system,” added Wilkinson. “Let’s provide voters with the information they deserve ahead of this profoundly important vote.”

Registered voters will receive a referendum voting package from Elections BC in the mail between October 22 and November 2, 2018.
